The new BaerCoil® NoTang wire thread inserts make it easier than ever to repair threads without compromising on stability and durability.
At first glance, you may not immediately notice the difference between the new BaerCoil® NoTang wire thread inserts and the original design. It's just a detail - but one with a big impact! The NoTang thread inserts do not need any tang at all. The name says it all: "No Tang" simply means "no tang". The new design not only eliminates some of the problems that have occasionally arisen when repairing threads with conventional wire thread inserts. It also makes installation quicker and less complicated. We explain why.
The tang is used to anchor the conventional BaerCoil® wire thread insert in the installation tool. Once the installation is successful, it no longer has a function and must be removed to make room for the screw or threaded rod that is to be screwed into the reinforced holding thread. In the best case scenario, breaking the stud is only an additional work step. However, depending on the component you are working on, it can also be the starting point for a series of problems. Namely, if the broken tenon cannot be easily removed or disappears into hard-to-reach cracks and openings on the component. It may then be necessary to go to great lengths to get the offending part out again. In the worst case, this can cause irreversible damage.
These situations are a thing of the past with BaerCoil® NoTang. There is no pin that can fall or get jammed. But how does the NoTang wire thread insert hold onto the installation tool? Quite simply: via a small notch at the end of the spiral. To be able to use the NoTang wire thread inserts, you therefore also need the corresponding NoTang installation tool. Otherwise, however, nothing changes for you! The dimensions of the mounting threads are identical to those of the conventional BaerCoil® wire thread inserts. This means that - apart from the special installation tool - you can continue to use all the utensils from the BaerCoil® system that you already have. And the working method is exactly the same as you are already used to. You drill the mounting thread with a twist drill, pre-cut it with a thread cutter and then insert the NoTang wire thread insert using the installation tool. No need to break the tang!
So you save yourself an entire work step when you use the new BaerCoil® NoTang wire thread inserts. The more frequently you repair or hardfacing threads with BaerCoil®, the more significant this time saving becomes. In series production, you can achieve a smooth workflow and work speeds that you could previously only dream of. To fully exploit this advantage, we have designed the BaerCoil® NoTang wire thread inserts so that they can be used on both sides. The notches for fastening to the installation tool can be found at both the top and bottom end of the coil. It therefore does not matter how the thread insert is oriented - it can be fitted correctly in any case. This also saves time and leads to an even smoother workflow.
