A first look at the improved PRO holding tools from BAER

Even classic tools need an update from time to time. After all, tried and tested does not mean that there is nothing to improve. That's why we at BAER have taken on tap wrenches and die holders and, with passion and attention to detail, created completely revised and optimized versions of the well-known holding tools, which we are now proud to present to you. Numerous small modifications ensure that working with the new PRO holding tools will be even easier for you in the future.

Let's start with the most obvious. The new holding tools are not only significantly better processed and therefore particularly robust, they also look really smart. Where there used to be nothing but dull gray, there is now a bright red, contrasting with the rich black of the handles. The result is a contemporary look that fits perfectly into a modern workshop environment.

But the inner workings of the new tap wrenches and die holders have nothing to hide either. The PRO holding tools from BAER are made from high-end die-cast zinc. This zinc die casting is particularly dense and uniform, which has a very beneficial effect on the stability and processing of the holding tools. Thanks to the high load-bearing capacity, you can master even difficult cutting cases effortlessly and can look forward to a long service life for your tap wrench or die holder.

However, we have not only completely overhauled the base material, we have also made a number of small but extremely effective improvements to the geometry of the holding tools. Particular attention was paid to the socket for the handles. The point at which the handle and tool body are screwed together is a critical point. Strong forces act here, which have easily led to damage in the past. The new and improved geometry effectively eliminates this problem. Thanks to their robust design, the new PRO holding tools can now withstand even the highest loads, as the forces acting on them are distributed evenly. In this way, we achieve maximum stability with low material requirements for stable tools that sit comfortably in the hand.

And something else has changed in the handles of the holding tools. They are now no longer chrome-plated, but burnished. As chrome plating is not an environmentally friendly surface treatment, we were looking for a process that would be more compatible with our commitment to sustainability. Burnishing provides corrosion protection, a smooth surface and also gives the handles a black color that brings out the bright red of the body even better.

The handles of the new PRO tap wrenches have been further optimized. We have decided to provide the end pieces of the handles with knurling . This ensures that you always have a firm "grip" on the tap wrench and that it does not slip off easily, even when moisture or oil is involved. On the handle with which you adjust the moving jaw of the tap wrench, you can now also discover a so-called working hole . This small hole is used to accommodate a suitable toggle. This allows you to achieve a higher torque when tightening and clamp your tap particularly firmly in the PRO tap wrench. The moving jaw of the tap wrench now also has a cotter pin lock, which makes the plug-in connection between the jaw and handle particularly stable.

The PRO die holders also boast individual improvements. They are now manufactured even more precisely and hold the dies so accurately that nothing is guaranteed to wobble or slip. There is also space for a die guide - making it even easier to work plumb and level. The five knurled screws can be tightened by hand and hold the die securely and stably in place.
