Whitworth fine pitch thread 2 DIN 240

The Whitworth fine pitch thread 2 DIN 240 is a historical thread standard. This British fine pitch thread is no longer used; instead, the Whitworth fine pitch thread BS 84 is used today.

The Whitworth fine pitch thread 2 DIN 240 has a flank angle of 55°. The pitch is specified in threads per inch. The pitch is constant across many thread sizes and only varies between 10, 8 or 6 threads per inch.

For the thread designation, the core hole diameter is combined with the abbreviation W. The pitch appears in the thread designation for the Whitworth fine thread 2 DIN 240 in the form 1/10″, so that the complete designation is, for example, W 24 x 1/10″.
